Sustainability and environmental aspects
in biomass production systems, 3 ECTS
Aim and scope
This course will give you an overall understanding of the environmental issues related to different types of biomass production and outtake from forestry and agriculture, in a Swedish and global perspective. In addition, environmental legislation, sustainability standards and certification, the role of political ecology, sustainability in biomass production, and impacts on biodiversity, soil quality, site productivity and water resources in agricultural and forest ecosystems will be addressed.
Content
The course consists of one full week with lectures and literature discussions, November 11-15, 2019. Plus one additional day for presentations of student assignments and a study trip, to be decided during course start.
