PhD-course: Making Science Matter - 29 October -1 November 2019

 

Welcome to a course co-organized by LUOVA (the Doctoral programme in wildlife biology research at Helsinki University Finland) and the research school Ecology-basics and applications at SLU:

 

Making science matter – increasing the impact of environmental findings (3ECTS)

29thOctober- 1st November 2019 at Ekenäs Herrgård

 

The course aims to improve the communication skills of PhD students in ecology and environmental biology in order to increase information transfer and dialogue between academia, decision makers, and society at large. On the course, PhD students will practice communicating their research findings to different target audiences and the media, learn how the general public can be engaged in research projects, and hear how science is taught in schools and even kindergartens. Each day of the course has a specific theme and will start with keynote lectures and continue with workshops, exercises and group work.
