PhD position in forestry effects on ecosystem functions

Hi all,

We are looking for a doctoral student to investigate how the biological functions of the soil differ between forests that have never been clear-cut and those that have undergone a clear-cutting phase. The doctoral student will carry out detailed measurements of carbon flows and nutrient dynamics with a focus on the long-term effects of on forest growth and carbon storage. The work includes, among other things, field measurements of the soil's carbon and nutrient flows, dendrochronological studies, and some modeling. The doctoral project is part of a larger FORMAS-funded interdisciplinary project addressing the role of the Swedish forest in mitigating climate change. The project includes researchers from several departments at SLU and Uppsala University.
