The Biodiversa+ Call for Research Proposals on "Improved transnational monitoring of biodiversity and ecosystem change for science and society" is now open! | | | | Biodiversa+ is pleased to announce the launch of its 2022-2023 call and invites research teams from Europe and beyond to submit proposals on biodiversity monitoring. This call aims to support transnational research projects (3-years duration) addressing one or more of the three (non-exclusive) themes below: - Innovation and harmonisation of methods and tools for the collection and management of biodiversity monitoring data
- Addressing knowledge gaps on biodiversity status, dynamics, and trends to reverse biodiversity loss
- Making use of available biodiversity monitoring data
| The call covers all environments, i.e. terrestrial, freshwater and marine in Europe and beyond. Projects are encouraged to combine aspects from various themes. The projects funded by this call should help to better characterise, understand and report on the state and trends of biodiversity. To be eligible, research consortia will have to include teams from a minimum of 3 countries participating in the call (including a minimum of two from EU Member States or EU Associated Countries). A two-step process will apply to this call, with a mandatory submission of pre-proposals at the first step (deadline: 9 November 2022 at 15:00 CET) and submission of full proposals at the second step (deadline: 5 April 2023 at 15:00 CET). The complete announcement and call documents, including full eligibility and evaluation criteria, are available on the call page. Potential applicants are invited to attend a general information webinar on 20 September 2022, from 3:00PM to 4:30PM CEST. Participants will discuss the needs for and challenges to obtaining reliable biodiversity information to inform decision-making. This symposium presents an opportunity to recognise the urgency of actions, reflect on the values shared by key initiatives and bodies, and spark dialogue around how and where complementary action can work together more effectively.
