SCCS Hungary – Connecting Eastern and Western Europe in conservation biology Tihany (Lake Balaton), Hungary 29th August – 1st September, 2017

Dear Early Career Conservation Biologist,

After the successful SCCS Hungary in 2015 and in 2016, we are delighted to invite you to the third SCCS Hungary in 2017, organised by the MTA Centre for Ecological Research. SCCS Hungary offers young conservationists, students and early career researchers the opportunity to meet renowned plenary speakers, to attend career-enriching trainings, workshops and field trips and to have fun at the largest lake in Central Europe, Lake Balaton at a student-friendly low price.

- Teja Tscharntke from Göttingen - Landscape moderation of biodiversity patterns, pollination and biological control

- Péter Szabó from Brno, Czech Republic - Historical ecology: connecting the natural sciences and the humanities to understand ecosystem change

- Andrew Balmford from Cambridge - Reasons to be cheerful (or why #EarthOptimism is so important)

- György Pataki from Hungary - Diverse values and multiple ways of valuation as different approaches to constructing human-nature relationships

There will be a series of workshops, networking opportunities, fun, and of course, the possibility to present your research results.

 The all-inclusive conference fee will be around only 270 Euro - including conference registration, accommodation and catering (three meals per day) during the conference, evening socials like wine tasting, and a half-day trip to the Tihany Peninsula, a World Heritage site of UNESCO.
