Hej all,
From mid-April to early May two of the leading scientists in DNA metabarcoding will be visiting our department at SLU in Umeå; Prof's Pierre Taberlet (CNRS and Univ of Grenoble) and Eric Coissac (Univ of Grenoble).
Pierre Taberlet is one of founders of the field of DNA metabarcoding and a globally leading conservation geneticist with an h-index of close to 100 and >> 200 publications. Similarly, Eric Coissac, with an h-index of close to 50 and close to a 100 publications thus far, has played a pivotal role in the development of the DNA metabarcoding field, particularly in terms of bio-informatics. Both also run a highly popular metabarcoding summer school each year. They will be visiting our lab as part of a joint project where we use DNA metabarcoding to create novel insights in trophic interactions among Swedish ungulates.

If you are interested in DNA metabarcoding and/or in meeting Pierre and Eric, please note the following activities;
- one-day seminar on DNA metabarcoding on the 18th of April in Aspen, SLU Umeå, with talks on the do's and don'ts of metabarcoding by Pierre and Eric and a series of talks by researchers from Umeå on the use of metabarcoding in their research.
- consultation afternoons: we have blocked the afternoons of 19 and 20 April from 13.00-16.00 where anybody who is interested can book time with Pierre and/or Eric to meet with them. If you are interested in this, please email Robert Spitzer: robert.spitzer@slu.se
Best wishes,
Joris
