Welcome to a PhD-course in
Community Ecology
- theory, experiments and data analysis
(5 ECTS), October 2nd-13th
This course provides fundamental knowledge in community ecology, with a focus on community dynamics and mathematical modelling, experimental methods and time series analyses methods to address key questions in community ecology.
What? You will learn and discuss fundamental concepts in community ecology, learn analytical and graphical analyses of community stability, multivariate time series analyses to identify species dependencies and to explain community dynamics, and simple dynamic modelling of community responses to environmental change.
Through discussion seminars, an individual project and a final mini-symposium, you will also get the opportunity to practice oral presentation, evaluate and discuss how your own research relates to community ecology theory, as well as practice scientific debate.
When? October 2nd-13th
Where? SLU Campus Ulltuna (Uppsala, Sweden) on October 2nd-6th & SLU Öregrund (Sweden) on October 9th-13th (free accommodation possible in Öregrund, preliminary bookings for course participants available at hostel, www.epokgarden.se)
More info in the attached course syllabus.
